In round 3 Will Roebuck shot his third consecutive 71 for a 3-round total of 213 which is 3 under par.
In an ideal world he would be a couple of shots better off to give himself a cushion for tomorrow.
But he never really got his game going and left a few putts out there.
It is interesting to look at the scoring and several players had much worse rounds than Will. Among them was ex-Ryder Cup player Peter Baker who followed 67 & 69 with a 75 – just shows what nerves can do.
Anyway, I think Will needs to shoot at least 3 under par tomorrow to get through.
Will had his worst day as a professional in round 4 and shot 79. He said that the windy conditions exposed his technical faults and he played poor golf. So his dream is over for another year and he will have to content himself with playing on The Alps Tour, Jamega Tour and Europro Tour. Then go back to ‘Q’ School next year.
Shame but there it is.
What he can do is learn from his experience and improve his technique, which he thought was good enough until today.
But I think Will can take a lot from his 3 months as a pro. He has learned to stand on his own feet and take responsibility. He made no excuses for his performance today and faces problems head-on.
That’s why we work well together and I think he will do well next season.
